A Psychiatry Art Museum in Los Angeles
This project explores the sentimental expression of spaces through an experiment of materiality. Every material has its embedded history and symbolic meaning that evokes certain emotion or memory. Color plays a big role here as well. The weathered wood stair, roof tile wall cladding, red straw facade, bronze mullions and gold brick curved interior walls woven together are whispering a nostalgia story while walking you through the space.
The water feature of the roof garden naturally becomes the skylight for the gallery underneath. The water reflection casts bouncing shadow into the gallery space, which thickens the time for the audiences.
