Reviving NPAK - Armenian Centre for Contemporary Experimental Art

Since its conception in 1992, NPAK has played a crucial role in the evolution of contemporary art in Armenia and has firmly established itself as one of the main contemporary art venues in the Caucasus region. An international competition held by the Boghossian Foundation in 2019 was seeking to creative solutions to revitalized NPAK and institute new strategies for self-sustainability and greater social impact.

This design started with strategical arrangement of programming, which allows the museum integrated into the city’s signature social gathering - the historical flee market right across the street. Internally, an atrium that interlocking the two main spaces - the gallery and the library - not only introduces vast natural light but also creates a visual connection between the moving and still spaces.
